Pasifika scholarships and awards

Pasifika students at Massey can apply for a number of Pasifika scholarships at all levels of study, to help fund their education.  

Get in early and be sure to check out the closing dates. They may close before your study starts. Tips for applying for scholarships (102 KB)

While you are studying you are also eligible for Pasifika student awards that recognise excellence, and commitment to the community.

Massey University Pacific Student Assistance Bursaries

Closing date: 14 October 2019

Applications are now open for 20 NEW Bursary Scholarships to provide financial assistance for Pacific students. The value of each bursary will typically be up to $2,000 per annum and will eligible for those students who have completed a minimum of 120 credits of study at the completion of semester two in 2019 and can demonstrate financial need. School of Music and Creative Media Production - Pasifika Scholarship

Closing date: 31 October 2019

Provide support for a Pasifika applicant to pursue and achieve success in the Bachelor of Creative Media Production or the Bachelor of Commercial Music.

Massey Business School Promising Student Assistance Bursary

Closing date: 31 October 2019

Open to currently enrolled students at MU engaged in a programme of study within the Massey Business School (MBS), either at undergraduate or postgraduate level. The bursary provide financial assistance to promising students who are facing general hardship or financial barriers to continuing studies

Pasifika Excellence Awards

The Pasifika Excellence Awards recognise individual Pasifika students from Massey University who have excelled in their area of study. Awards are made in recognition of academic merit to students who possess a GPA of 7.0 and above. The Pasifika Excellence Awards are divided into 3 categories and are awarded by each college (across all 3 campuses) to the:

  • Highest achieving first year student;
  • Highest achieving continuing student;
  • Highest achieving postgraduate student (excluding doctoral students).

15 awards are available under this initiative. Recipients are recognised at the annual Celebrations to Honour Pasifika Graduates.

Pasifika Community Awards

The Pasifika Community Awards recognise individual Pasifika students who have displayed their commitment to the Pasifika Community. This includes participation in events and activities hosted by the Pasifika Directorate or other Pasifika staff at Massey University or voluntary work undertaken within the community. Students are nominated and chosen by Pasifika staff on each campus. They are proudly sponsored by Tongan community group, Fofo’anga Inc. Recipients are recognised at the annual Celebrations to Honour Pasifika Graduates.
